Let me play Devil’s Advocate for a second. Suppose the woman seeking the abortion is a rape victim. Wouldn’t forcing her to view an ultrasound be a little cruel. You would be forcing her to relive how she became pregnant. I could understand for women who became pregnant through consensual sex, but for a woman who did not have a choice that seems like it could be too psychologically damaging.
Different people will react different ways, but I think that if she’s pregnant, she’s going to have that on her psyche anyway.Besides, that baby’s humanity will still be there regardless of how she got pregnant, so she ought to know that her decision might kill a defenseless child.
